This is our most compliance-intensive export region: the European Union applies harmonised but rigorous food safety, labelling and traceability rules across all member states, and buyers here typically expect a level of documentation and quality assurance evidence that goes beyond what other regions require.
Given the distance and the regulatory bar, European orders tend to be larger, less frequent, and negotiated with more lead time than our African or Gulf shipments — but the market rewards suppliers, like us, who can demonstrate consistent certification and a traceable, FSSC 22000-audited supply chain from farm to container.

All food entering the EU must comply with Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 (the General Food Law), which requires full traceability at every stage of the supply chain, along with product-specific rules on additives, contaminant limits, and labelling under EU food information regulations. Consignments are also subject to official controls at the EU border under Regulation (EU) 2017/625, and certain product categories require pre-notification through the EU's TRACES system.
Our FSSC 22000 certification — a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)-recognised scheme — is specifically relevant here, as GFSI recognition is widely accepted by EU importers as evidence of an audited, internationally benchmarked food safety management system, which materially eases buyer due diligence compared with non-GFSI certification.
Each shipment travels with full traceability documentation, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate for vegetable-based products, and our FSSC 22000/ISO 9001 audit certificates; we work directly with each buyer's import compliance team ahead of a first order to confirm any additional country-specific requirements (e.g. German or French labelling language requirements).

European shipments move by container from Mombasa via the Suez Canal, most commonly landing at Rotterdam or Hamburg — both major EU gateway ports with onward road/rail distribution across Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland. Given the longer transit time, we recommend European buyers place orders at least 6–8 weeks ahead of required delivery to allow for production scheduling, documentation, and sea transit.
Air freight is available on request for smaller, time-sensitive spice orders, though sea freight remains the standard route for the bulk categories (canned and frozen foods) given container economics.
